Sun Moon Lake is the largest lake in Taiwan. Its name was first seen in the first year of Daoguang reign of the Qing Dynasty, in the ancient text “You Shuili She Ji”, which states: “I don’t know where the water comes from, and it pools to form a pool. It is dozens of miles long and one-third wide. The water content is Dan.” It is blue in color, so it is called Sun Moon Lake.” Later, it had various names as time went by, such as Shuishehai, Longhu, Zhutan, Shuangtan, etc.
